How to Keep an Organized Fridge

By properly organizing your refrigerator, you can save both time and money. Not only that, but you will be well on your way to the start of an organized kitchen. Here are some tips to help you out:

Meal Planning

Jot down a list of the meals you plan to make for the week and keep them on the fridge. This will help you use the ingredients you bought without having them spoil because they were forgotten.

Place the food that you are going to need later that week at the back of the fridge and organize the items you need earlier that week in the areas where you can easily get them.

Invest in Clear Storage Containers with Lids

It is easier to find the food you are looking for if you can see inside the containers.

When putting leftovers away, be sure to rotate the contents of your fridge so older food is in the front, while today’s leftovers are in the back. This will help keep spoilage to a minimum.

Keep Meat Contained.

Place a bowl or plate under thawing/fresh meat so excess blood doesn’t spread inside the fridge.

Keep Ferments Together.

Making sure you have fermented foods every day is important. Keep them all together, so you know exactly what you have one hand, or what you need to make or purchase.

Place Dairy Items Together

Keep cheeses, butter, and milk close to the door of the fridge so you can easily see them. We wouldn’t want any raw grassfed goodness going to waste!

Clean Your Fridge Regularly

Set a day each week to clean the fridge. If you keep up on it, it is just simple 10 minutes of maintenance instead of being something you dread doing every 3 months.

Stay on your way to a neat kitchen by keeping your refrigerator clean and organized!
