Baked Apples

I love fall, and I enjoy sitting and watching the leaves flutter down from the trees. It’s a great time of year to sit on the porch swing and enjoy a warm dessert!
Hearty and satisfying, these baked apples are perfect for a chilly fall evening. These are gobbled up in no time at our house, probably because of the delicious smell that precedes them.
This happens to be a favorite after school snack, but it’s also a hit if they have them for breakfast. I like the fact that the nuts add a bit of protein to balance out the sugars.

Baked Apples
Ingredients:
4 large good baking apples (I used Gala)
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup raisins
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 teaspoon cinnamon
——
1/2 cup water

Directions:
Use a paring knife to cut out first the stem area, and then the core. Use a spoon to dig out the seeds. Make the holes about 3/4-inch to an inch wide.
Mix stuffing (except for water), fill each apple as much as possible. Place in baking dish. Add water to baking dish. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes.
Serve warm.
