The truth is, we will never "feel like" doing the dishes that we put off till later and there is never free time that we'll want to use to do them.

And when we have to clean the kitchen in order to cook- we spend all our good energy doing the chores before we even get to cooking, so there if there was a desire to be creative in the kitchen, well, now we're just ready to survive!

I used to wait until ALL the dishes in my house were dirty before I would muster up the courage to head into the kitchen and spend the next 3 hours washing ALL of them.

It seemed like my life was ruled by the state of my kitchen: Ugh, let's just order pizza for dinner I can't cook in there!

I felt like a failure. I seriously thought that "normal people" didn't struggle to keep their houses clean. Like there was something fundamentally wrong with me.

It was a source of contention with my husband (honestly, I was angry that it didn't bother him) and I was irritated that my children required food, which involved using the kitchen.

The thing is, I was making the task so much harder than it needed to be.

First, I THOUGHT about it all the time. I THOUGHT about how many dishes there were. I THOUGHT about how much time it would take me. I THOUGHT about how my back would ache. I THOUGHT about how much I hated every bit of it.

And procrastinating meant that the dishes WOULD take more soaking, more scrubbing and it would take SO MUCH LONGER.

Fact: I was a mess. I didn't know how to maintain a clean home and I HATED doing it.

But I followed this exact system and I can tell you that for the last 12 years I have had a clean, and easy-to-use kitchen and I don't struggle with it.

It's done- without me thinking about it or setting aside time to get it done.

Coming from an emotionally and mentally difficult place, I was able to conquer this beast and I believe with everything in me that you can too.
