Storage Ottoman, Necessary or Not? Reader Question

“What do you think of getting a storage ottoman for the living room to keep the kids’ blocks in?
I’m keeping their toys upstairs, but I’d like to keep some books on the bookshelf and blocks downstairs so they have something to do down here without hauling toys up/down the stairs. Right now they’re in a plastic shipping crate, not attractive, but I’m not sure if I’ll regret getting a big ottomon to have in the center of my living room.” ~ Cara, Health, Home & Happiness

My answer:
Storage ottomans are a great way to hide items we use on a regular basis. It’s healthy to put your feet up at the end of the day, it’s great if it can have 2 purposes!
As the kids grow and you no longer need it to store toys, there are many other things we use regularly that can be hidden away inside the ottoman:

  • Photo Albums
  • Camera & Equipment
  • Board Games
  • Video Games
  • DVDs
  • Laptop and Supplies
  • Dog leash and Harness
  • Blankets
  • Backpacks
  • Winter or Summer gear
  • Knitting or Crocheting
  • Craft Supplies
