What is the Mins Game decluttering challenge?
“MinsGame” is short for Minimalism Game, a fun game and monthly decluttering challenge created by The Minimalists. This challenge is designed to simplify your life and space, as well as promote the minimalist lifestyle.
The rules are simple! Get rid of one item on the first day of the month, two items on the second, etc.
Some participants like to run the challenge backwards. So for April, that would mean decluttering THIRTY items on day one, twenty-nine on day two, and so on.
The first one gets gradually more challenging, while the second option gets gradually easier.
Whichever way you choose to get rid of extra junk this month, our April tally chart helps you track your progress to stay motivated the whole way through!

April Mins Game Themes
If this isn’t your first time participating in Mins Game, you might be looking to shake things up. Here are a few fun themes to incorporate into your April Mins Game to keep things exciting!
1. Earth Day
For the week leading up to Earth Day, focus on items that can be properly recycled or sustainably disposed of.

2. Bloom Where You’re Planted
Choose one room or area to completely transform by the end of the month. After you’ve decluttered, go a little further! Touch up the paint, do those projects you’ve been putting off, and work on that one area until you’re happy with it.
3. Repurpose Challenge
For every five items you remove, challenge yourself to repurpose one item you’re keeping. This can keep the decluttering interesting, giving an opportunity for creativity and some fun DIY projects.

4. April Showers
Focus on clearing out the bathroom and cleaning supplies early in the month.
5. Easter clear
Go through your Easter decor, baskets, and check under the bed of your weirdest kid. Weird kids love to steal bird eggs from nests and keep them there. Don’t ask how I know. But yeah, declutter the old bird eggs, if you find them…
