Blackberry Crostata

I grew up in Washington state, where blackberries are in every area possible. I have fond memories of picking blackberries with my mom and brothers, going home with buckets full of berries, stained fingers and lips.
This blackberry crostata takes me back to childhood. It’s so delicious, I could eat the whole thing! If you are lucky enough to have leftovers, it makes a great addition to breakfast!

Blackberry Crostata
Ingredients:
For the dough:
1 1/4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
8 tablespoons cold butter, in pieces
5 tablespoons water

For the blackberries:
12 ounces fresh blackberries, washed and dried
2 tablespoons sugar
pinch of sea salt
Directions:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
In the bowl of your food processor, mix the flour, sugar, and salt to combine. Pulse in the butter, until the dough has a slightly sandy texture. Let the food processor mix on low, adding the water one tablespoon at a time, until dough becomes a ball. Place dough on parchment paper.
Mix berries, sugar and salt and allow to sit while you roll out the dough.
Roll into a 10″- 12″ circle, between pieces of parchment paper. Place dough on baking sheet. Remove the top piece of parchment paper. Sprinkle blackberries in the center. of the dough. Using the parchment paper to lift the dough, bring all the edges up, to “fence in” the blackberries.
Bake at 400 degrees for 40-50 minutes. Allow to sit for 10 minutes before serving.
