Strawberry Lemonade

Strawberry Lemonade

Strawberry Lemonade. Such a refreshing afternoon pick-me-up!
Making lemonade is a great family activity. Call everyone into the kitchen, juice lemons, cut strawberries and then sit down to enjoy the fruits of your labor!
My kids are always excited to help with this treat and I have to admit, I am too, but that may be because I have been known to add a splash of rum to my own glass when we get ready to enjoy it.
We love having something cool and special in the afternoon, as we sit in the shade on our front porch. We can talk about the day and our upcoming dinner plans. Um, yeah, I’m raising a bunch of foodies.

Strawberry Lemonade

Ingredients:
1 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice (about 3-6 large lemons, depending on size)
1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
1/2 cup warm water
3 1/2 cups cold water
1 pound strawberries, sliced with tops removed
Directions:
Mix warm water and sweetener together until dissolved. Add lemon juice and cold water, mix thoroughly. Slice strawberries, mashing slightly and mix into lemonade. Serve over ice.

This is a variation of my lemonade recipe, which is included in 30 Days of Simple Dinners, a summer recipe ebook.
